Grey and cloudy walk-a-bout

Daisies are my favorite flower and I love poppies.  I am so happy when I go outside and find that different plants are flowering, grass is growing, strawberries are ripening, and all seems right with the world.
Our Saturday morning started with chartreuse and purple pancakes.  A fine fine way to start the day.  I saw this site where a dad makes the most incredible "pancakes" for his daughter.  He even does it 3D!  Check out "Jim's Pancakes" and be inspired like me, then realize that this guy has a lot of time to be figuring this out and why the hell can't I do that!  Crap it is harder then it looks...I gotta get a squeeze bottle!  Ours were ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside and they were super tasty.  Next time I will be more prepared.
Outside was our destination, before the rain started and we were stuck indoors.  What better way to be outside then with water balloons!  OK, I understand that a gloomy day that is a scant chilly may not be ideal but hey, we roll as we roll.
I filled up enough balloons that my fingers got sore from tying them. (splash) Crap! (splash)  Double crap!  What the skiddeldidoo am I doing out here in the cold playing with water balloons!  Max on the other hand was having a hootnanny throwing water balloons at everything.  Did you know that it is pretty funny when a dog thinks that a water balloon is a ball and doesn't expect the explosion.  Moo was so confused by the immediate disappearance that he would look around to see where it went.  I love, love, love me some Moo.
OK, so the water balloon thing came down to Max wanting to do it "All by myself!".  So he tried ...Squisplash...and again....Squirsploosh...and again....Kerblam.  Max seemed to be having trouble remembering which way to turn the valve to make the water stop.  Poor little water balloons, they were forced to accept liquids in bulk as well as at high velocity, they never had a chance.  "MOM!!!  I NEED YOU TO DO THIS FOR ME!!!!"   Now, the game was to fill the balloon up as full as you could without breaking it.  Max was the big winner with this beauty.  You know what happened with it don't you?  Can you picture it?  I stand in front of my sweet son, documenting his "big one" when he suddenly turns on me.  I scream, "I have the camera!  Don't do it!"   Max just looks at me with this evil grin and laughs an evil HAHAHA.  I turn to run as the balloon is raised over his head in a moment of triumphant defiance....and.....he did not handle it with the care that it required and it burst right on his head!!   My turn...HAHAHAHA!  Can mom's do that?  Just asking.

Here are some of the things I have in my yard.  These are buttercups and the veiny foliage is called bloody dock.  Creepy huh?

Don't know what these purple ones are but I like them.
Here is my mutant poppy plant that has now produced 3, count 'em 3, different color blooms from the same plant.  The other plant I got at the same time from the same place is just plain old yellow.  I feel for it, having to compete with the uber poppy.

The grasses that are going to seed are around my pond and they just kind of appeared.  They are about 5 feet tall so they look really good near the water.  The roses are so nice, they are pretty and smell sooooooo good.

The star of the show is the apple tree!  The apples range in size from a dime to a quarter.  The single apple in the picture is about nickle sized.  They have a ways to go but are looking pretty good so far and it appears that we could have a bumper crop.  APPLESAUCE!!

So these are some of the tidbits that I have in my little yard, of course I am not mentioning the 2 foot deep canine dug hole OR the fairly large piles of ...........

Please always remember and don't ever forget:

"I don't want to be stinky poo poo girl, I want to be happy flower child."
