What about boys?
As a female of the species, I look around my house and see that I am surrounded! Surrounded by men, boys, males, testosterone laden beings, most of which are covered with lots of hair!
Here I sit in my house of males, watching the wrestling, the tug o' war, the running, jumping, leaping and slaying of bad guys. My home is overrun with maleness and all of the goofiness that comes with it. Come on! Even my dog is a male!
I have never been a "girly girl" but golly gosh almighty, sometimes I just don't know what to do with all of the manly maneuvering that is going on constantly.
For example:
The monkey takes karate and enjoys every minute of it. He practices and is always creating these scenarios where he is defending the universe from the most evil of the bad guys. A quick move to the left with a sweeping kick that lays the bad guy flat and then the blow that ends his reign of terror.
This is obviously a boy thing, probably embedded deep in their primitive brain where they use to need these skills of protection and defense to survive. When my little monkey was a toddler, we refused to let him play with toy guns. I thought that I was being a really great parent until one day when he was 2 1/2 and playing on the playground with some other young kids, he picked up a stick and turned it into a flower! Really!? No, that stick became a gun and I was so surprised. After watching him make guns out of everything that he could hold in his little hands, from the vacuum cleaner to a granola bar, I decided that this was an innate behavior that was so hardwired that it just happened automatically.
There has been a ton of research about children all over the world and how they all go through the same process as they grow that allows them to be able to draw the human face. It is really fascinating to think that regardless of environment or culture they all develop this particular talent in the same way. I believe that, to some degree, this is the same with boys and their "everything is a weapon" instinct. The rough and tumble world of boys may seem foreign to girls but I think that it is what makes them special. My take on all of this testosterone driven mayhem is to run, jump, wrestle a little and try to find pleasure in foiling the occasional evil plan.
Over and out, from my world of males.
