Seriously! Time is going by far too quickly for me. I swear that Max just finished 2nd grade and SUDDENLY it is a few weeks before school starts again. What the hell is going on !!???
Well, I have felt like this before and actually went looking for an explanation to the “time flies” idea. I ran across this explanation years ago and always TRY to remember it when I start to feel like my life is whizzing by at breakneck speed.
I have created simple illustrations to allow visual learners to follow along more easily. The theory goes something like this…
As we age, each moment we are alive becomes a smaller percentage of our lives. If we look at years as the time period, let’s compare a 7 year old to a 47 year old. The 7 year old often perceives the period between birthdays or the holiday season as an interminable amount of time that no one should be forced to endure. Here is the visual explanation to the elongated time frame of the 7 year old. This child experiences the year as 1/7 of their entire lifespan thus far. That is a long time when you are only 7!
So here I am, 47 with my pie chart sections growing smaller every year, pretty soon the chart will look like an optical illusion of sorts and THAT is my explanation of why it is already back to school time. Is that too much analysis? Something for you to ponder as you rush from here to there, and wonder why you don’t have enough hours in the day to do all that has to be done.
