It is cold and rainy here in Racine and feels like it happened all of the sudden. This perception of the quick weather change made me go looking.
I went straight to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, I really am not sure why I went there but it is OLD and it is an almanac, so there ya go! Here is what it said for the September and October for Racine, WI.

DID YOU SEE IT!!!? Let me zoom in a little.
Oct 26-31: Rain and snow, chilly.
There it is! Freakin’ snow! Funny. I am feeling like knowing that there is a possibility of snow during THAT week is a little like knowing that you will break your big toe by tripping on the uneven sidewalk in front of your house, 3 months in advance. Is it good to be able to prepare for the snow and get all of your winter gear in order before the end of October? Is it more fun to be surprised by the first snow of the season?
I think that I like the latter. It is fun to just move through the world believing that it will be crisp and fall like till after Thanksgiving and then be shocked and amazed that it snowed on October 27th. And yet......I wanted to know if I was having a boy or a girl. Odd....Or not. I think that I will need to ponder this further and hopefully forget that it will probably snow the last week in October! I wonder where my good mittens are?
